Introduction
On 6th of February, two major earthquakes hit south-central Turkey and northern Syria. The earthquakes affected ten cities in Turkey and also affected Syria, with an impact area of about 350,000 km2, about the size of Germany.
An estimated 14 million people, 16% of Turkey’s population, were affected. More than 57.300 deaths were confirmed. It is estimated that 1.5 million people were left homeless. Damages were estimated to be 104 billion USD in Turkey. It will take years to rebuild what’s collapsed, and for a long while people will need shelter until they can find a new place. This indicates that a short-term support will not be enough, and the earthquake relief efforts would continue for months or even years.
In order to help the earthquake relief efforts and raise awareness, Mexpo and Fonema are organising a fundraiser concert. All the revenue from the ticket sales will be donated to “ahbap”, a non-governmental organisation from Turkey who have been actively involved in fundraising for the affected areas from the very first day, helping the victims by supplying all possible needs.
Line-up
Alkahest
Alkahest is a five-piece doom death metal band explores the world of alchemy and forges this concept into a massive band sound. The group formed at the international music institute Metal Factory (Eindhoven) in 2022. Alkahest consists of young talented musicians with a vibrant sound that matches the intensity of their live shows. The band made its live debut at the world renowned Roadburn Festival (2023). Due to their varying musical backgrounds, each band member makes sure to increment divergent components to their sound – making it their unique alchemic doom death metal trademark.
The sound of Alkahest is a ferocious yet dynamic entanglement of sludgy riffing, pounding blasts and screams, crystal-clear resonating vocals and fragile atmospheric sections. With their dynamic sound, fast-paced and down-tempo grooves and high energy live shows, they offer an all-encompassing experience of their alchemic doom death metal.
ENMA
ENMA offers a wide array of haviness: fom progressive metal riffs to plowing 90s grunge groovers, from introspective melancholia to fierce outbursts. For fans of Tool, Opeth, Alice in Chains and Katatonia.
ENMA released their debut album ‘Apathy Awakened’ on Electric Spark Records in late 2022, which was picked up and praised by the international (prog) metal community. Meanwhile the band has shared the stage with bands like SOEN, Riverside, Dear Mother, Napalm Death and Voivod.
Baris Dai
Baris Dai is an independent musician based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, who is passionate about telling stories through his music. Baris’ masterful guitar playing, layered textures, and evocative melodies create a unique blend of progressive rock/metal and ambient music that takes listeners on a journey. His work has already caught the attention of Prog blogs and magazines, with many positive reviews highlighting his talent and potential. Together with Edgar Rodriguez on bass and Sami Al-Abbar on drums, they produce a powerful and dynamic live sound.
Ylisia
Ylisia is a Dutch symphonic metalband with influences of the 80’s & bands such as the Gathering, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Stream of Passion but also Kate Bush.
Keyboardplayer & composer George van Olffen (ex Secret Sounds, Moonflower & Kingfisher Sky) asked longtime friend & guitar player Martijn de Zeeuw to join him in the quest for an additional line-up.
In the summer of 2021 With Liesbeth Cordia ( ex annatar, Eve’s Fall) joined on vocals, Eva Levina on drums & Tim Hoogervorst (ex- the NAME) on bass.
The band is ready to take over the world with their solid, compelling & enchanting songs!
The Astoria
We are the Astoria from Eindhoven (NL) and we play garage/rock n roll like they did in the late 60’s early 70’s. Inspired by bands such as the Stooges, MC5, the Rolling Stones, Small Faces and the Sonics.
Rough up-tempo songs with catchy choruses that invite you to dance and sing along, with wonderful guitar solos and now and then a nice whining organ. Our motto is, “we like it when it’s loud!” Enough experience in this band with members of the Dirty Denims and NL punk legends Jabberwocky, so expect an energetic live show on stage!
